Good for you Jerry! I agree with you as to being a part of the Center, and not being ghettoized, However, I disagree that I want the drop in room back. What I'd like to see is a space for us to hold meetings, social events and integration with the rest of the Center. It should not be a part of SAGE. The drop-in room served little purpose for many women who preferred the company of other women. The space I'm thinking of may include many different rooms, as they become available for our regular meetings.

Welcome Chelsea...It really shouldn't have to be just this or that...I know over the years there has been much contoversay about woman's participation at the drop in...but there are many men and woman that do use that room on a regular basis...maybe more men are there..but gay men count too...and I could name at lleast 10 woman who also enjoy the room and have men friends they hang out with at that room..
Again...I am all for all your suggestions as to having different spaces at the center...but don't think it's fair to eliminate a space that is so important to so many of us..we shouldn't have to take something away from some in order to add other things...

Jerry, I agree with you about not taking away something in order to add others. But, as I understand it, that room is already slated for demolition. I wouln't want to get into a war with the Center. We can fight to have a community space, but I'm afraid that it will have to be on their terms. And, I really don't envision it as being a part of SAGE. That orginization seems to be insensitive to our need to be in the Center with the rest of the community.
